Folk Club returns to Over Hulton

If my memory serves me right ,we started watching Folk at the Westhoughton Folk Club at the Red Lion Westhoughton in 1973 when friends asked us to join them one evening. The club had a resident band The Auld Triangle (few tracks on You Tube) normally a four piece ,Pat on vocals Mike John and Phil on acoustic guitars and vocals. The club was located in a room above the pub . This was their home for many a year, during this period they organised the Horwich Folk Festival which took over the leisure centre for the weekend (arts crafts and music ) . The club won the BBC radio 2 Folk awards Best Club in Britain in February 2000 The club met every Friday hosting many a big name from the Folk scene. A few I can remember. Vin Garbutt Mike Harding Bernard Wrigley Bob Williamson Gary and Vera Norman Castle and Gill We watched at the club for six years so this list should be a lot longer. In later years the club used Portafinos, where we watched the excellent Eric Bogle with John Monroe. Before moving to the Golf Club by now the Auld Triangle were Pat ,Mike ,Barrie Seddon on bass and the multi talented Clive Leyland. Still the club were playing to sell out evenings still attracting big names . The original Westhoughton Folk Club closed its doors for the last time in March 2007 after 35 Years.

Can the Over Hulton Folk Club fill the void and continue to play live Folk music ?
